I love crossing the Mississippi River She runs so wide and deep The sun winks down between the spans at me The tugboats sing down low and deep Beneath the pop of the pavement breaks I enter an old West Memphis reverie I can see me flying down I-40 As the camera pulls away And the music swells with possibility Maybe I'm just hoping As I wake up from my dreams Or maybe I just watch too much TV But now I'm bound for Colorado And I'm living out in my car I went out to find myself Underneath the western stars I ain't going back to Nashville All alone, where no one cares Now it's a long way home from anywhere Steam is pumping smoke and money (?)
